ATI Vs. NVidia
ATI Vs. NVidia
Ok, it's been a long time since voodoo was running the graphics card racket, but it's all over for them now. In todays market we have the mighty ATI Radeon series recommended by half-life 2 and of course the NVidia Geforce series. But outta them two, which is the far superior?
The main reason for this thread is because i'm gonna buy a new graphics card myself, but i ain't sure which one to go for. At the moment i have an ATI 9600XT, which is still pretty decent.

Here you go m8 : http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20041130/
and some off this: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2285&p=2
I might add that the SLI concept is that you save like hell and buy a top of the range card and then, maybe after a year or so, buy the same card again at rock bottom prices and see your performace double.IMO Currently SLI is overkill for the recent games. If your thinking of a single card to last you for a couple of years, the ATI850XT is perfect for some serious ass-kicking graphics.
I have a little doubt over compatibilaty with SLI, as you need the EXACT same gfx configuration, and some games may end up not supporting it..... But i'm pretty sure that it will be fixed and ppl with serious $$$$ will find something more to boast about....

SLi right now is just redundant, a X800 XT will play ANY game no problem on the highest settings(I'm talking FX-55, corsair memory systems here), except Doom 3 which requires a 512 MB card for uncompressed textures.
I'd take the X800 XT anyday because it sounds cooler than 6800. Performance wise, I don't really care, numbers don't matter to me, as long as they play smooth, I take it.

I've see it! IT'S AWSOME! The Graphics are OVER THE LIMIT!!!celluzion wrote:Then I take it you haven't seen the Performance demo by ATi and Crytek on the X850XT's power.909 wrote:are you kidding? its like comparing an F1 car to a tricycle...

BTW there's a card that takes up 2 slots. I think It's a Quadro, or someth...

Your half right. It does takle up another slot. But its not a "Quadro"Stereo wrote: BTW there's a card that takes up 2 slots. I think It's a Quadro, or someth...
Due to the its mammoth of a gfx proc a huge heatsics and fan combo is required which takes up helluva space. thus it takes two slots. this is kinda weird as ATI proclaimed that its new series (the R480 if i'm not mistaken) is a breakthrough in "heat managment"
Here is a pic
clicky!
BTW Qudro FX is a Nvidia card ment for high end workstations.

yeah, then stick it into a hyped up PC (Hyperthreading or a64) and the processor is still the bottleneck problem for the supposed x850xt's power...
oh an BTW, the Quadro is for architectural/graphic design practices only, not for gaming. if im not mistaken, theyre good at polygons and vertices...
