3" Turbo-Back Exhaust Complete on my Eagle Talon AWD: P

Post by 2gTSiAWD »

I have had my Custom 3" Turbo-Back done for about a monthe now. Thought I would post it on here and tell a little info on it.

Exhaust Includes:

3" Mandrel Bent Downpipe
3" Test Pipe (No Catylitic Converter)
3" Custom Made 3" Cat-Back to a MagnaFlow Race Series Oval Style Mirror Finish Muffler with 3" Inlet, 14" Long, 4" Tip.

I bought the down-pipe from http://www.dsmparts.com. I went to an exhaust shop to have a 3" Diam 16" Long Pipe Flared at one end to elliminate the cat. Went to the same shop to have the 3" Alluminized Cat-Back made and had them weld the Muffler on.

Total Cost: $458.67. The sound is awesome. If anyone actually knows how a Turbo-Charged car sounds with a full 3" exhaust you know it sounds killer. It is really deep and it sounds super mean when I hit full boost. I gained about 40-45whp from this setup.

Once I get my temporary 14b Turbo on to replace the tiny and weak stock T-25 it will be a even more of a gain. Well here are some pictures 8)

It has a REAL deep tone to it all idle. It is even deeper until I hit about 2800rpms and I reach full boost of 16lbs. It is kind of hard to explain if you have never heard a turbo vehicle with a full exhaust before. I will try to find some sounds clips that sound just like mine.

I have vids of my car with sound but with no server....Can't do much to upload them.

I have pretty much the same system as you. FUll 3" from the turbo back with an edelbrock muffler and no cat. With my T3/T4 turbo, its kinda quiet when im just rolling around, but when i get on it, its deafening. The only thing i would have suggested is painting the muffler BBQ black to attract less attention.

And 40-45WHP? is this a real dyno result or are you guessing, because there is no way an exhaust is going to create that much whp.

Thats what I meant by where I live, but like you said, subject dropped. clunk.

All I ask for in exausts is they look good hanging out the back end (or side in some muscle cars) And sound good and loud. Got that and you're all fine with me.

I have not dyno'd my car with my full exhuast yet. But I did with all the mods I have now minus the Cat-Back with my MBC@15lbs I made 235hp and 241tq. Could have been more if I wasn't AWD. With my Cat-Back on I am not sure how much of a gain it will be.

Considering the Downpipe, no cat, and other mods I think the gains are pretty accurate.

Here in Missouri it is illegal to not have a cat. But I really don't care.

And yes it is a Eagle Talon. How could you miss the big TALON on my centr peice of my tail light? And the Talon Tail Lights, and the 95-96 Talon Turbo Side Skirts. And yes it is basically the same thing as an Eclipse. All 2G's are interchangeable etc etc.....

I was talking about the talon in your sig. Not all the pictures of the exaust. I knew they were of a talon. But the talon even has the hump in the hood exactly like an eclipse! I dont know which copied which but one definitly copied the other.

Host the vids on the site so we can hear.

I work at a Ford Dealership and I have my own MVI License. (Missouri Vehicle Inspections). I write out inspections all the time. And I can write one up for my own vehicle 8) So I don't have to worry about that at all.

And for the "Hump". The Hump has been on all Talon's, Laser's and Eclipses since 1989 when the first DSM was built by the joint venture. The only DSM that did not have the Hump was the 90-91 Lasers with the 1.8L Engine. Which is pretty rare to find since only a limited number was built for some reason.

I need to make a DSM Thread since everyone always asks the same questions.
