Do you think that a different voting between the PRO & Standart Design could eliminate or reduce the Up/Downvoting ???

Different votings between pro & standart "Presentat

Post by Mephisto1 »

I thought a bit about the whole Upvoting/downvoting thing, and i had one idea that i would show to you.

How about to have 2 different garages for every user ( i know this sounds not good, but wait):

The first garage could only be filled with stock presentations, and without editing
(not even spinning rims) from the same light envoirment, where every one could
vote and write a comment. - in this case all the votes "should" be objective (as i think)

The second garage could be the "professional garage" for the member, where he can
submit the Pres of his dreams - BUT onyl can get comments WITHOUT voting.
The garages could be limited to about 15 cars each - or 12 cars each.

Or only one Garage per User, but the User can choose, if the submited car is for the pro
or for the Standart part of his garage., of course the standart cars can get votes, the
pro not.

I know this idea is a bit simple or hard to do and needs more development, so i post it here to get some feedback

What do you guys (and the admins) think - i think this could be good for the pros. that
can go on with their PS work and get feedback , and for the "Normal" users that can see
how good their cars are.

Cause i can live without votes, i simply like working with ps, and creating new ideas
(remember my: "Daily News" Corolla, or my "Free" Mustang, my Black Mustang or my
New Pontiac)

the Idea has some good points... but I think the standard lay-out isn't working... cause even without simple editing some people have got a better look...
Main reason: Graphic cards!
I for instance Use a ATI Radeon 9800XT and I got it on a resolution of 1280x960 with full AA and I got the nice transparent windows and parelessaint paint etc.
but when someone has a lower spec cars he cant get some or alot of these things..
so logically the picture doesn't look as crips as it would do on a high spec comp.
if you watch the showroom you can see that simple GFX stuff can make or break a car!
things like overbright generally ruins the look of a car (so that is not a bad thing for lower GFX comps cause they don't have the option :D)

so to make it simple what I am trying to say is that you will always have a difirence between pictures...some people can make a great shot the simplest of lay-out (1 pic) jsut by positioning the car in the right way on the pic! and others do a weewee poor job at if that...

And I jwas just thinking of one more thing....
At first I thought the your system was (lay-out wise) bulletproof in up/downvoting but when looking at the system again I think people will still vote/comment like this:
wow great car I love the presentation of you other pic 10 points for that!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) (loads of smilies!)

but I think your Idea overall has some things that could be implatened later on

oh yes, the graphic cards. well i have a cr*py ATI radeon 9100 (64MB) and i can run the game on full details, AA on etc. and i think my pics are excellent for that kind of junk like my GFX is.

Definitely worth developing this idea, but two separate garages...maybe not. Perhaps an option (a check box maybe) where you could choose whether it is a pro or a standard car. Wouldn't have to exist in a different place, would just be flagged either one (the voting/not voting would naturally follow the flag).

But Stig has a point. People with superior GFX can easily get "showroom style" caps without any editing. So people who are capable of making "pro" images, would also have very nice looking "standard" images aswell. Photoshop skills aside...

I know this will never happen with such sentence - if it would, the admins would have a
evidence for the upvoting of that user :) . I know that this idea needs lot of
development, it was only a suggestion, and i like to hear that the idea may work
someday in some other way 8).

But i posted it to gain some feedback and improvement to this idea, cause i like work
with ps, and to submit my ideas that someone can see them - without this possibility it
would be totaly pointless to me , working with PS & NFSU2

**Update**
PS: The thing with the good GFX is a thing that needs development too - but in this case people with better GFX will allways get better votes, cause of their possibility to make a high quality pics :?

True, but mostlly they got the 'big names' by making great cars. Check it - you'll notice a pattern there - good cars, good votes.
