week 9 Challenge: Sleeper Challenge............

Post by TheStig »

The new challemge for week 9 is the old classic the SLEEPER Challenge!

here are the basic rules:

build a car that is fast but doesn't look really fast...
a car that if it stops next to you at the traffic light you wouldn't expect it to be able to blow you of the tarmac!

that is basicly the goal of the challenge.

but now how do you build something.... does it have to be a stock car?? no ofcourse not!

you are allowed to use ANY car but choose wisely! cause some cars are not so good in hiding their true potential!

further more what should it look like... well as always that is up to your taste... but it is something completely difirent then the Pimp my ride challenge!!

for the new challenge try not to use flashy parts and parts that make you car look like a expensive RACING BEAST!

not going to tell to much...

the competition will accept cars from saturday afternoon (GMT time) so you got some time to prepare!

when we start accepting the entries... you will see the full set of rules
(don't expect anything new or major changes! so you can start building.... )

good luck.. and if you have no clue what a sleeper is... see the demo car when the challenge entries are accpeted!

yep Stereo... from now on... all challenges are HIDDEN IDENTITY...

unless we make have a challenge where we want to show it... but I can't come up with a challenge where we want you so say who you are... (Idea??).. so if we don't say anything here in specific... about it... asume it is hidden...

the rules when you can submit will tell also if it is hidden or not!

I'm not sure what the more detailled rules are, but my suggestion would be:

You cannot have stock:
-front / rear bumper or sideskirts
-rims
-spoiler
-bonnet (hood)
-headlights
-taillights
-exhaust pipe

That way you know you have to change at least those things, otherwise we will have a stack of cars with virtually nothing changed on them. I missed the sleeper challenge last time around in UG1 so I don't know if I'm saying something that is already known here :)

I wouldn't say this is a boring challenge, although it does have the potential for a few similar looking cars. I think as long as you are encouraged to modify the car as much as possible with the goal of making it look close to stock then it is challenging and knowing how easy it might be for others to create a similar car means that you just need to think about your entry that little bit harder.

Take away the decals, and then it's a sleeper. The spoiler is debateable, if it is "too big" for a sleeper.

Yep definately lose the decals, and while I quite like the spoiler, it's not really sleeper-ish....

I was reading through the rules for the UG1 sleeper challenge, and it said no decals or vinyls, however I reckon you could probably get a way with a windscreen decal and / or one discreet vinyl - there are some there - stripes and things - that could still work on a sleeper I reckon.
