Most of you suck @ rating

OK I have been rating a bunch of cars in the showroom today.

Some simple facts:

• I rated this car with a 7=good, and it dropped from 1434th to 1475th.
• There are exactly 1700ranked cars

Obviously, I must roll my eyes:



You dudes are definitively doing horrible when it takes to rate cars in the showroom.

- Some of you, give out happily 10s and 9s everybody (who knows the reasons?)

- Others state that they rate only good cars in order not to offend the authors of bad cars. *cough* Who gets offended? Unless you are a childish dude, you will accept that your car is crappy! i.e. My Toyota Supra is crap, it's ranked 1200th and I don't cry. Furthermore, I won't delete my Supra, I love it

- Finally, there are dudes whose brains are as dry as the Sahara dessert:

Nice car. It could be better, but I gave you a 10

If it could be better, it's not perfect, it doesnt deserve a 10!

Not bad. Color is ugly, and those rims don't fit on the Skyline. Im not sure about the wing... 8points

Wow. How many ugly things must got a car to get 5points? Let alone a 3...

Another thing, if I were you I would stop arguing about downvoters. Considering the situation, a car ranked the 80th drops to 600th if you give it a 7=good. (in case you think it's bad and give it a 4, it drops instantly to 1000th+). It's a fact, I have checked it today.

If you rated correctly, this wouldn't happen. But you rate every rides between 7-10. So again, stop arguing about downvoting. You yourselves create this issue by overrating all the cars. They are that overrated that even a 9 makes an awesome car to drop down 100places. It's your fault, not us. (We = intelligent voters)

Solution: Rate cars using your brain or just don't rate at all.
Each person has got his own tastes, but it's technically impossible that you love all the rides in the showroom.

3 - then you'll see a new page with alot of small pics of that model. Pick 1 that you like, or rate them 1 by 1
4 - When you've clicked on a small pic, you'll see the info of that car. When you scroll down, under the pics you'll see this



5 - Pick a vote (which you think this car deserves = very important) from the left option-box.
6 - That's it, now repeat this alot of times.

Well obviously everybody hasn't voted all the cars, coz then all the cars would have 50 votes instead of the 15 - 20 votes they have. Rest of the votes are automatic 10s, which raise the ratings.

Even if a car received 20 1 votes the car's rating would be 6.4 after you add 30 10s.


But generally you do have a point here

Yeah you might be right,

Here is another awesome fact: There are near 200 rides sharing the "423th" position. That means, there are no cars ranked 440th, or 500th, or 550th... We go from 423th to 614th

You get the cars sorted by rank, page 22th. Scroll down a bit, and the funny thing starts. Go to next page, next, next, next, one more.... LOL. Be patient, some day you will find a car that is not ranked 423th

With my showroom knowledges, I bet all those cars must have an exact average rating of 9.00. Maybe a mod could tell me if Im right...

Here is another explanation of why a car drops down 200places after a single 8 --> It's average rating is reduced no more than 0.1points, but it makes it go from 423th to 650th!!

that's really a great comment on the showroom voting problems IMO if this whole thing wants to be fixed all votes in the showroom must be deleted and people must be told to start a rating at 5 then work their way up or down and to rarely give out tens

People just really like to suck up on other users that’s why they give a lots of 10's and 9's everywhere. there are even members here who pm others to vote on their duels, thats just pathetic if you ask me. when i give my comment i don't even give out digits anymore just adjectives and opinions coz some people here just find it hard to accept a 7 rating, even an 8 for some.

i know a lot of people here who suck up other users just to get noticed... thats just how the system flows around here these days... there are actually a lot of nice rides on some other garages but people seems to ignore.

check his garage to see how worst the rating system nowadays... you can see the same users giving out 10 to all of his cars.

Damn....the showroom is a joke. That car that enzo showed is worth a 4 or something and people are giving it 10's! I now think the voting should be removed all together because people arent even commenting honestly on others rides which is taking away the whole point of the showroom.

since the day i added my msn address i've gotten heaps of pple wanting to 'be my friend'. dont get me wrong here, 50% of the time its a really gr8 guy on the other side, but the other 50%..... i'll give u an example:

yesterday some new guy (wont tell who he is) added me 2 his list. started talkin with him and we got along fine. he then asks if he can join my team...lookin at his cars, i told him "sorry m8, but not this time "
he then cuts the convo short and tells me he has 2 leave...but interestingly he's still online 4 the next 3hrs...

i think i've made myself a new enemy.....

btw: clickin on the link that dani posted, have u guys seen how many cars are rated at position 384!!!!!!!...almost frigging 7 pgs ...and then it jumps 2 position 500+

It's been like this for a long time now. It was alreay before the ratings were reset(this was the reason why it was done) and it still is. So this is nothing new.

Personally I'm already waiting for the SR3 with Most Wanted and hoping things will be different.

Well.. people is not idiot. Problem is: They only rate the cars they like. In Example:

I'm not voting this car since it would be a low rating

Q: Does make sense to rate only the good cars?
A: NO!

Other problem I see: There are like 10k rides in the showroom, but only 1700 are ranked (those which are rated by more than 5users).

- A good idea would be: Add a system which allows people to rate the new rides diary. Like a "rate today's rides" link. There it can be applied the TC method: A car appears randomly to you. Then you click the "next car" button... and it appears another random car. till you have rated all the day's cars
- Other idea: As I see it unknown cars are not spotted succesfully. Question: Does anybody click on the "Pick of the moment" links? The Featured ride of the day was a cool thing, but it's not running any more...
- Other: The average of the votes given out by a dude must be something between 3.5--7.5. Otherwise, those votes shouldn't be counted.


There are a plenty of other other good ideas flying around:

- Rankings system must go. This was said by Bojan.
- Ratings should be seen only by the author of the car. This is a Sir Ibi's idea.

Only got one thing to add:

Entrant ladder: first entry got 18 votes and there are 50 entrants. If you enter the comp. and don't vote on cars, your votes are automatically counted as a 10. The entrant rating is not the exact rating the car got, actually the ratings in SRC are pretty low (see user ladder). The first car got 32 10s from non-voters and 18 normal votes.

I still think: the main problem is that people only rate the cars they like, while the other 8000rides keep unranked for ever.
You must think this way: A car ranked the 1500th is not crappy. There are 10,000 rides in the showroom. 1,500 is actually a good place
