Here's one that I think is the closest to be the one even though the controller is not yet finished.
The text on the bottom of the first picture is russian, and it says that the joystick has a movement sensor, and when you move it, it reacts in the game.

Well it's a good enough reason, it dictates the entire structure of the game and more so how fun it is to play. Look at Nintendogs on the DS that was a very popular game at the E3 show, and that was controller specific. For one example, I can't believe anyone enjoys playing FPS game more on a console than a Pc, it can be the same game but the gameplay will always better on Pc cos consoles have nothing to rival the accuracy of mouse aiming. The only two games that have done a good job are Timesplitters and the Metroid series.PSZeTa wrote:I'm laughing my ass of here.
Do you think that they are calling their console ''Revolution'' because of the controller?
Nintendo probably expects that everybody is going to buy the Revolution because of the controller.
The companies don't make their money off consoles, they make it off games sales, the point of this thread is to discuss the most important thing, which doesn't really get talked about when concerning Xbox And Playstation, Gameplay !!
Yes, I think Nintendo will struggle again in the next gen battle because people will be attracted by better graphics, but all the new mutli media features that the other two consoles are offering aren't really what the public wants (or is willing to spend money on)
You only have to look at how badly the PSX did to show that users still just want a console to solely play games on.
Who do you think brought D-pads, analog control and proper wireless pads(Wavebird) to the public first, Nintendo!!!!
The new controller will hopefully be the next step in gameplay and this is one area that the competitors have taken no steps to advance on.

Nintendo have the bought the most important innovations to the games industry over the years, what sony and microsoft are concentrating on is "better graphics" dam i'm getting bored hearing that crap. Sure having nice graphics is cool, and improves the aesthetics of the gameplay, but the way Sony, especially Sony go on about it, like the graphics on the other console are gonna suck, when that ain't true...
The pics by Focer of the controller look good, but i guess we'll just have to wait and see...

what wrong with that? I mean the controller is the integral part of gaming. Hopefully in years to come, we'll have access to a wider variety of controllers that enhance gameplay - like gloves you can put on and use it to manipulate the game, some form of headsets, i remember the Dreamcast had a fishing rod too, heheh.

If the Nintendo Revolution is called that because of the controller, then you obviously arent thinking right.

I dunno if some people are missing the point, if a new method of control is brought out then the gaming experience will be tailored around this factor. Nintendo clearly seem to think they are onto something, it's like playing a racing game on keyboard and then playing it with a steering wheel and pedals, it will be the same game but the way the user appraoches it will be different and they will have a more imersive experience. The controller has to be called revolutionary because it will change the way the games are developed in-order to accomodate it.
Despite Nintendo not being the most popular they are very profitable (Are Microsoft even making a profit off Xbox now?) and they wouldn't have made this choice on the controller if it wasn't going to work.
But yeah, like I said earlier about FPS games, It doesn't matter if Call of duty is going to look much better on Xbox360, it still won't play as well as the Pc version because of the CONTROLLER. If a controller is revoultionary then the games themselves have to adopt to this, and in turn will create new styles of gameplay.
If people want more destructable scenery and whatnot then the other two consoles will do just fine, but I will choose a new form of interaction over that anyday

all the consoles' controllers are good at different things. but if you really think a different console's controller is better than the one you've got, just go buy one of those adaptor-things. my m8s got one that lets you plug a PS2 controller in2 a GC. i personally think the Xbox Controller S is easier to hold than the DualShock2 or GC controller. but then, a different console wudn't give a different feel to the games it played it everybody's controllers were the same. the controller defines the console, so ninitendo are probably onto something here if they are indeed naming their console after its controller.
