I don't know if this is of any use but I'll leave you to decide:

"The next NFS game is already in developement. We are working on a title with next-gen graphics, becoming more photo-realistic and authentic to the true world and its existing detail. Although we are working on other games, this next title should be released within the next 2 years and some footage should be seen on the E3 aswell.
We also haven't decided, what substitute the 10th episode is going to have, but current work titles are known as: Pursuit Catchup and Pursuit Resurrection. So far we are in alpha stage (the graphics + main objects are done) and now we will focus on the characters, sounds and cinematics. Then we´ll get the engine fixed from bugs and import the rest.
The game is in developement for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC. Wait for E3, you will love the game..."

Mark your dates for EA people. :)

Well, then we'll have to wait and see. If it's true, it's true. If it's false, it's false but the information is not that detailed and it even re-phrases some old information, though the working title names don't seem like something EA would come up...

Just as long as they fix the rocket-powered AI catch-up bug, it'll be an improvement. In fact, I'd rather see the AI back to as it was in NFSU2, rather than the lame tricks they've used in MW - you can ram a large truck and send it flying, but can't affect an AI opponent in a lightweight Lotus Elise :?

However, the phrasing of that statement from "EA" doesn't seem to be written in very coherent English - I would have expected much clearer wording in some places. The bit where it says, "...what substitute the 10th episode is going to have" springs to mind. Just my observation...

I've never encountered that catch up bug, that I know of anyway.

Well, I have encountered it, and I'm ready to blow someones head off too. Very annoying bug indeed.

Is it in UG2 also? Because every race I do when I'm doing well towards the last lap of a URL or circuit, the opponents jet past me without even using NOS!

Hopefully, it's the same bug as the one in MW. :?

Not that funny, but yeah. I suppose that's EA's excuse for that 'bug.'

Again, it's not a bug. Bugs are unintentional coding errors. Catch up is a geunine feature, deliberately designed into the game in order to guarantee a "thrilling racing experience".

I seriously doubt it will be removed in coming releases. EA have the formula set in stone.

This has got to be the most talked about feature in NFS.

Probably because it's one of the most annoying too.

Well, why don't I ask? Do you guys think that this catch up "feature" is the most annoying concept in the NFS games? Not the catch up itself but the whole "1 lap to go so you die human!" part of it. :P

Yeah, but without catch-up, the game'd be too easy.

@Toshiro: yeah. it would be too easy, but they should just make the AI harder to beat and take out catch up. Other racing games dont have catch up, and alot of them are hard to beat.

Thanks. I could have swore I heard that from my screen though. Too much racing at 1:00am I suppose. :P

Very true. I know what you mean. So it's basically deciding making AI hard with no catch up, or leaving AI like they are with catch up. (That sentence sound like ketchup)

I wouldn't say the AI are easy, but they certainly aren't that bright either.

I had no problems in UG2 - probably because if the AI were being a pain in the bum, I just shifted down to EASY or MEDIUM difficulty.

Catch up is OK if it can either be disabled or you can select a difficulty level.
