Believe me, Pontiac can't come up with shiznit now, the only thing i've seen of theres that is nice so far is the Solitsce and even thats not that great, come on Pontiac even wants to take Holden's new VE Commodore and trun it into their new Pontiac Grand Prix. I mean come on, stop taking good Aussie Cars and firetrucking them up

What is with the american sports car builders these days?
All prototypes I see are square and look like reproduced cars from the 60's It's like they found a drawer with loads of old concepts from the 60's and 70's and thought... wow we can use that and build some new cars.
Take these 3 cars:
GTO concept
Camaro Concept
Challenger Concept.
all 3 the same Idea... old car with new styling but basicly still a huge unearodynamic brick.
I'n a way I do like the Camaro and Challenger but I do think they look to big, but then again I never seen them in real life.

In fact, even the Monaro itself is a comeback from earlier models, the last of which were produced in 1979 before the line was revived in 2001.
I owned an HJ Monaro for a time. Beast of a car.

I'll agree on the monaro. It's a better car from the exterior and it handles more like a tuner than muscle.

While it may resemble a Monte Carlo, you gotta realize there really was no creativity in the 70's. EVERY car back in the day had that exact same generic boxy shape. Because thats exactly what they started their designs with, a box, then they added a few exterior shapes. All the cars pretty much sucked, end of story. That Monaro looks just like a 71 Monte Carlo, see the Monaro takes the look of other cars and they add stuff, thats all they do.
On another note I think that new design for the GTO looks even uglier.

I knew Holden made them before and I don't mind a good comback. but rebuilding a car in the same style as they did in the 70's sounds like lack of imagination.GT3x24x7 wrote:In fact, even the Monaro itself is a comeback from earlier models, the last of which were produced in 1979 before the line was revived in 2001.

No seriously looks at the Monte Carlo: http://www.valleymotorsofwinona.com/ima ... monte2.jpg
And the Monaro: http://www.holden.com.au///images/monar ... monaro.jpg
And the Monaro: http://www.holden.com.au///images/monar ... monaro.jpg

Different body lengths, the montecarlo has a 'tigher' rear end and a Camaro-like rear wheel swell. Montecarlo's boot section comes down more, its' lines are curvier and its' rear lights are different, it has a roof that's more fastback-ish, and overall the original Monaro has a much straighter shape on the sides and top.
Also, the Monaro (like most 70's Holdens) is smaller than most US cars of the period and built incredibly strong. Holden was (and in many was still is) a constant innovator of safety and strength technologies in cars.
That and you can mount 500+ cubic inch bigblock in a 'pony car' sized HQ without the thing's chassis twisting like a silly straw like what'll happen in a Monte Carlo.
S'like saying a Skyline looks like a Subaru STI.
