Ahem..I didn't mention anything about performance, I assume you know that that doesn't matter to me from the Bugatti thread. I don't care about downforce or any of that, I'm very much into appearance. Yes, maybe the decals aren't needed, but I didn't say they are, I just said they are used a lot where I come from, to show which companies are behind the production of their ride, in cruises and car shows. With some companies, they insist upon having their decal on the car somewhere, maybe the top of the windscreen. I didn't say I liked that, I just said it happens.Racing wings have been proven to be ineffective at under 140mph, the downforce they create is useless for traction up until that point. Also, the drag coefficient they create up until that point would, in theory, slow the car down if anything. As for decals, hey if you like shopping lists down your door, be my guest. The ONLY reason a car should have decals is for paid sponsors, not because you have a Mugen floor mat and want to show off about it.
I guess I'm not that bothered about the mustang really. Not a muscle person. It really wouldn't bother me seeing that, as muscle doesnt run through my blood, and well, I don't live in the US, so am not really a fan of that horrible lump. Unattractive to me. I know about the two cars, no need to be patronising now. I think you're being quite pedantic about the whole situation. Are you really that bothered about one little badge? Yes, I know, it's about what the badge represents, but, it's their car, not yours.Mustang - I cant believe you cant actually see anything wrong with someone putting a 'Type-R' badge on an American muscle car. Aside from the fact that the Mustang is from the USA, and the Type-R heritage hails from Japan in completely different markets, and aside from the fact that the Type-R badge has been the calling card of ricers for at least the last decade, its trying to make the car appear to be something it isnt.
In the UK, conversions are a popular part of the tuning culture. I can count the umpteenth time I have seen a cover car with either:Which in turn comes to my NSX argument. That NSX is built by Honda, not Ferrari. It was developed by Ayrton Senna, its already been acclaimed as Hondas greatest ever achievment. It is NOT a Ferrari, especially an F50. In comparison, it has a 6 cylinder engine which is very mildly tuned, and about the only thing comparable to a ferrari is its MR layout.
- a whole body conversion - e.g. a civic converted into a bmw
- a headlight conversion - e.g. a punto headlight conversion on a saxo
- 2 cars in one - e.g. a nissan skyline and a nissan almera.
In the UK, people get big kudos for performing these conversions, hence the cars dominate the covers of Fast Car, Max Power, redline, this is the situation over here. Enclosed below is a picture of the latter, the 'skymera' which I cut out and stuck on my wall. It's a remarkable feat, and has won a feature in Fast Car, one of the best modified car magazines across Europe.

Now I hope you see where I'm coming from. It's totally different over here. You just needed to know that.
