the computer i have now is a custom piece of shiznit tower box, i had a crappy motherboard running a amd athlon 1.2, then i bought a new motherboard and got a amd sepron 2.8, which is not even being used because i bought the wrong motherboard and its not compatible rofl, learned my lesson there btw. then i bought a new sound card, and speakers, then monitor, then video card, then a stronger power supply, then other stuff like keyboard mouse. i would try and run nfu2 in max setting except anti lising, and the agme will go very slow......i ran the fraps program and the yellow thing on the top left it says like 16-17 frames per second....that sucks really bad.
but im pretty sure that im gunna be able to run any high top end program on my pc when i get it. i can't wait to play doom 3 on max settings...close the door to my room, turn lights off...and put my headphones on....and play in my 30 inch flat lcd monitor lol! it's gunna be scawwy!

plus that alienware is a beast....i could have done the long way and the hard way...and buy everything seperately...with or even without warranty...buit it my self..who knows with what problems......plus..i suffered with this pc for a long time...i deserve to have a alienware configured to the max 8)

Fraction of the price and better? Well, it wont be better by all that much as the alienware is obviously quite a beast in intself. As PSZeta pointed out, the lack of a 64-bit could be a bottleneck but you have to admit it will have at the lead in pure clock cycles in current environments. And if he's just gamer it wont matter all that much anyways, as games dont utilize the full CPU power all the time. All other components look pretty much "at-the-edge". Though you can never have enough RAM, I cant imagine a software not being able to reach its full potential with 2GB of ram. And then you have all the Alienware-exclusive cooling stuff.
And you also have to remember the top quality after sales service you get from such companies.

just forget it guys, i'll go to tiger direct my self and let them know what i want. and see what happens. plus i can;t wait another month for an alien ware anyways, i'm too hard headed and i want things done quickly.
okay just tell me what i can do to upgrade my computer what should i do?
i have:
Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP1
AMD Athlon 1.2GHz
512MB RAM
Radeon 9600 XT AGP 128 MB
SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
logitech wireless keyboard, logitech wireless optical mouse
sony 15 inch lcd
creative 7.1 speakers
80 GB Hard Drive
in my opinion i just need the best cpu, motherboard, tower, video card, and a bigger monitor, new power supply. because the keyboard i have now and mouse is tiight. the speakers are great also with the fact that one of them isn't working because i need to buy a new wire for it. the sound card is good i think. so having that in mind all i really need is:
cpu
memory
motherboard
video card
case
power supply
monitor
hard drive
and i want new cd roms, one that plays dvd, burns dvds, burns music,
and another cd rom to just read cd's were i would put my gaming software.
what do you guys think?

cpu - AMD FX-55
memory - like 1gb minimum of low cas latency ram (unbuffered) maybe crosair or kingston are good
motherboard - if you got the cash which you do. spend like 250 on a good one. usually ASUS make nice ones. get one with SLI. is good for pc3200 ram. socket 939.
video card- dual 6800 GT or ultra. (i think for ultra you need dual powersupplies)
case - lian li all aluminum server sized case
power supply like a 600 w PSU should fit the job
monitor - 19" samsung flat screen. what ever one you want
hard drive - those 10.000 rpm. get like 140 gb worth of them.
this is what i would get though for my budget. once i decide to fully get one. this would run me under 1300.
cpu- athlon64 3500+
memory - 1 gb of pc3200
motherboard - any with AGP (preferably ASUS)
video card - ATI X800XT AIW
case - all aluminum server sized case
power supply- about 450-500w
monitor - none
hard drive-80 of 7200rpm
i think this one would suit me more than enough.
try http://www.newegg.com theyll supply you with everythign you need. they also sell pcs.
