To: Dani, Abrams, 2furio & GT_Stang

Thanks so much for your help! 2furio, you're right, about the 8x. Apparently, I can't even click on the 8x option bexause this card apparently is an AGP4x, and what's written on the GFX control panel is wrong. :?

GT_Stang: The game is running on 640 X 480

Drivers has been updated to the latest one. Just to let you peeps know, my GFX is nVidia FX500 128MB, and this game keeps firetruck buffer so bad, and it'll freeze for about 20-30 secs before it goes back running normal again. Things got worst yesterday when my PC during its buffer and froze while playing NFSMW demo.

THE GAME VIDEO SETTINGS HAVE BEEN SET TO THE EXTREME LOWEST

I'm in need of help now, because I'm terribly afraid that this will happen in the full game too.

Any other help is highly appreciated. Thank you.

An AGP 8x motherboard is not very expensive. For about 150 dollars you can find a very good one. If you're thinking to buy one, try finding one by Asus...they usually make really good motherboards at a fair price.

For Abrams:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... 04&CatId=0

Notice how it says AGP 4x...that means you could have the top-end AGP video card and it will still not work at 8x.

Thanks for the reply again 2furio. So my universal question is: Is there a way solve this problem (without buying a new GFX? Because I know my GFX has met the min. requirements)?

Most Wanted lags for me too. I have a 7800 GTX 512 MB...
And yet, I ask why does it lag? I have like the best GFX Card.

This lag issue may not have anything to do with graphics.

On my comp:
AMD Athlon 2000+
512MB DDR400 RAM
GeForce 4200Ti MyVIVO
80GB WD HDD

...the game works fine except for occasional freezing for about a second then continuation, and very occasionally that stupid error that some peeps are getting, but otherwise no lag.

I said above that it may not be a graphics issue coz I got a fairly crappy vid card and I don't get more lag than my friend with a 6600GT (he gets this lag too).

So, I'm thinking it may be something to do with the bufferring of the streaming things in the game. Some of the times it's lagged the "dynamic music" has been changing pace or things so that could be the issue. Or, I sometimes get lag after having to reset my car, so I'm thinking it may also be the streaming world of MW that's trying to load.

This could be easily rectified in a patch by EA. All they need to do is to make the startup loading screen 1-2 seconds longer, and then have a greater buffer distance of map around the player. I knew these short (REALLY SHORT!!!) loading times had a catch  .

Could some of you guys who have the problem try to figure out what:
a) the music is doing
b) what speed you're going
c) what exceptional circumstances are happening around your car (eg: hitting stuff)
... when the problem happens.

That way we could figure out a pattern, maybe.

Andre_online wrote:OK... I've been having problems with the demo lately, and I'm not satisfied, at all. At any point in time, whether in races or menus, the game just freezes for a few seconds, like 20, and a continuous revving sound can be heard repeatedly, and then goes back to normal again.. This goes on for the next few minutes or so.
@Andre_online: do you have a SBLive/Audigy soundcard ? If so, I am affraid it has nothing to do with the settings in the game. Try to upgrade your sound drivers, defrag you HDD and keep your fingers crossed. And disabling the EA Trax might also help.

Also, try disabling the AGP RAM Texturing (that option which allows the system to cache some textures in the system RAM when the GDRAM is not enough) - just as a test - and see how the game is moving.

Hi mate! No, the game has nothing to do with the audio. It's more of the buffering... But thanks for your help though. :)

Ok, here are my first impressions on the game. I'll start with what is wrong IMO:

1st, WHERE ARE THE RACE REPLAY OPTIONS ???? I can't belive EA removed that, but if I am blind and don't find the button, please help !
2nd, it seems to me that EA messed again with the capabilities of the cars.I'm now @ BL member nr. 9, I race Eclipse and bought a Porshe Cayman S. I can't belive that the Ecipse + 3 uniques has better "Top Speed/Acceleration/Handling" vs. the Porsche (same level of regular performance upgrades).
3rd, I am quite frustrated because of the way the game behaves with my wheel (Logitech Formula Force GP). When setting the camera to "Far", the game control becomes a nightmare, any slight move from the wheel turns the car almost completly. The only way I can play the game is with the camera on "hood" mode, and thus running a Renault or a Lamborgini doesn't make any difference visually speaking :(
4th the AI is completely idiot. The AI cars are sometimes running with lightspeed no matter what cars they're racing, some other times are breaking without any apparent reason. I belive the game tries to reach a balance and keep your adrenaline high during the races, so no matter what you are doing the cars are still @ 2 - 3 seconds behind you (or worst, in front). Or maybe it's just my lousy driving :D.

OTOH, I belive the graphics are a little bit "monochome". It happened to me more than once when I was searhing for the "arrows" that indicate the right track (they are now yellow, which blends very well with the environment). And everything has a beige/yellow color arround you. Which means if you don't know the track you're racing you might find yourself entering a hairpin with 180 mph. And still no option for 5.1/7.1 sound :(

And on the good side: Graphics (apart from coloring): great resolution, great details, good "reality" feeling. I play the game in 1280x960 full details and it really rocks.
The cars sound awesome. And the "storyline" is ok. You don't have to run in 30+ races to advance one level.
Certainly an improvement on car handling. They are more "stable" without forcing you to spend 2+ hours in the tuning area.

Hm. Maybe you're right. But between my first SBLive and my current Audigy i've had a Terratec with Sensaura and never experienced this kind of issue.

About the gameplay: can someone tell me if & when they got the pink markers for BL#15, which marker was that ? I really want to know if they are random :D. I wasted nice unique upgrades by trying to get the pink markers from BL#14 to 9 and now I'm sitting on 2-3 markers for "get out of jail".

And another thing. I am starting to think that removing al SUVs was not such a good idea. I started encountering the police SUVs and got busted for the 1st time :? because I was trying to ram them. Maybe a Porsche Cayenne or VW Touareg would have made the difference.

Well what did you expect :) Sure Eclipse will beat Porsche with even 3 uniques added as well. Porsche isnt designed for tuning, meaning its harder to increase perfomrance. Also about the AI....thats the catch-up option that prevents you from getting very big split-times....for example like +10secs.

How you earn uniques tho? By beatin blacklist? Can you pend upgrade to get all on one car?

p.s. about 4x/8x AGP sorry, but well....didnt thought about such m-boards :)

@Abrams: yep, by beating blacklist and yes, you can keep them and add them to any car you want. I think you may also earn more markers the same type (i.e. 2 supspensions or 2 engines).

Markers are special unique parts you can choose from. When you beat a blacklist character, you are able to pick out 2 markers. Weither it's a unique vinyl, bodykit, performence, or even a get out of jail card. You do get the option of what you want.
ex.
You beat Sonny(#15) you get to pick out 2 markers. You get a choice between-unique vinyl, unique gauge-and bodyparts-any performence. The other three are surprise ones, but you dont win bodyparts or vinyls or performence.

Get it?

@joablo: Among the "surprise" markers you may find the "pink" one that gives you your opponent's car. But don't try too hard, it seems to me it's not worth it. As opposed to NFSUG2, unique upgrades DO make a HUGE difference (see my previous post about Eclipse & Cayman). So my advice is to choose at least one performance upgrade marker and randomly one of the suprise ones. After all, selling the opponent's car give you a nice cash bonus.

@TRD: yes, the vinyls are 1 layer only. But the collection of "Body" vinyls has been filled with combinations (body + stripes, body + tribal etc). They are accessible after BL #10.

I guess no more showroom for this game unless modded :(
